Rio Desaparecido
CURADORIA
Antonio Edmilson Rodrigues Martins
The speed of the changes that happen in the city of Rio is impressive: monuments, buildings, and squares are erected and destroyed in the blink of an eye. Professions, shops, and habits go away often without records. Many of these narratives were recovered in this gallery, as well as the history of people who had their lives subtracted in an unexpected way.

No escurinho do cinema
Inside or outside the screens, Rio has a vocation for cinema. A common setting for films — and even the protagonist of some — the city guards the traces left by the seventh art. The frenzy of the écran, the mystery of cinemascope, the novelty of sound, the culture reproduced on screens. Pioneer studios, street cinemas, blocks devoted to the pleasure of the films, audiences in uproar. Part of this history turned to ruin; but another part supports the inventiveness that still pulses in Brazilian cinema today.
