The speed of the changes that happen in the city of Rio is impressive: monuments, buildings, and squares are erected and destroyed in the blink of an eye. Professions, shops, and habits go away often without records. Many of these narratives were recovered in this gallery, as well as the history of people who had their lives subtracted in an unexpected way.

Rio de Janeiro was the primordial stage for the structuring of the press in the country. And it was also an elementary setting for the political, cultural, and social transformations that journalism tried to capture. Now transgressive, now conservative. Now mocking, now inventive. The Carioca press had pages of laughter and of horror. It had almost everything. Less monotony.
