Rio Operário
CURADORIA
Antonio Edmilson Rodrigues Martins
The Rio Operário Gallery presents a panorama of the life, work, and struggles of workers in the city of Rio de Janeiro, mainly those from the textile factories that, from the late 19th century until the 1930s, occupied the city's landscape, forming neighborhoods, influencing ways of life, adding music and poetry to the city, and marking out urban spaces that gained the status of places of memory.

Viver operário
The lives of the workers beyond work. The bar conversations, domestic life, the relationships of affection. The room Viver operário deals, precisely, with the places and moments in which, as Sidney Chalhoub (2001) observed, the factory workers "drowned the sorrows of the struggle for life and numbed their aching bodies from the consecutive hours of daily labor."
