Who was Adolpho Bloch?
Adolpho Bloch (Zhytomyr, Russian Empire, October 8, 1908 — São Paulo, November 19, 1995) was one of the most important businessmen in Brazilian press and television. In addition to being the founder of the media group that bore his surname (Bloch Editores), he was also the creator of the weekly magazine Manchete, in 1952. Years later, in 1983, he founded Rede Manchete, which is now defunct.

History of ETEAB
On August 10, 1998, ETEAB opened its doors to students, paying tribute to Adolpho Bloch, one of the most important entrepreneurs in Brazilian press and television.
Before becoming a school, the place was a production center for the state government's educational TV network (it was occupied by Darcy Ribeiro during Leonel Brizola's administration). Unlike other institutions maintained by FAETEC, ETEAB was built "from scratch," without previously being part of the structure of the State Department of Education.
The institution was founded with a differentiated methodology, projects, and improved dynamics between students and teachers, bringing a visionary and hopeful outlook on the future.
In a short time the school became one of the most sought-after in the city, adding value not only to education but to the neighborhood where it is located, with its events open to the public and projects that stand out in the most diverse educational settings: Agências Modelo, NEO (Núcleo de ensino de Línguas), Cine Clube De Olho na Cena, and the Darcy Ribeiro image bank, which holds a collection of more than 4,500 tapes and images for research.
In addition to all the projects mentioned, we cannot fail to mention NEAB Sankofa (Center for Afro-Brazilian Studies), whose purpose is to assist in the dissemination and production of knowledge through teaching, research, and extension, in the development of ethnic-racial diversity issues and policies, and in increasing equality and valuing populations of African and Indigenous origin.
Thus, ETEAB has been transforming a place of learning into a cozy and respectful space, enriching and maturing all who pass through it.

Curiosities:
After arriving in Brazil, Adolfo Bloch - of Jewish origin - began signing his own name as Adolpho, without the f, because of the genocidal German politician Adolf Hitler.
The sixth floor of ETEAB was once the stage for a TV show, "Atitude no Telhado," which took place in the school's early years — in the early 2000s.
According to comments, remains from the construction of Maracanã Stadium were used in the building and its facade. The blue tiles on the facade are proof of this claim.
The school building, constructed in the 1950s, was designed to house an administrative body of the former State of Guanabara (as the Municipality was defined before the merger with the State of Rio de Janeiro), and it also housed Darcy Ribeiro's special extraordinary programs secretariat, under the second state education plan of the Leonel Brizola administration.
ETEAB is the only school in the FAETEC Network focused on communication and the creative economy.
Since 2014, the Hospitality and Tour Guide courses have welcomed new students, as well as students from the municipal school network who wish to get to know our space.
