HISTORY
The Methodist Church in Gamboa was founded in 1906 by Reverend Hugh Clarence Tucker.
The Methodist church that was under the direction of founder Rev. Hugh Clarence was not always located in Gamboa; it was previously located on Rua do Acre, but the institution was growing.
In 1913 it left Rua do Acre and moved to Rua Rivadávia Corrêa, 188 - right in the heart of Gamboa, where it remains to this day.
The Methodist ICP (Instituto Central do Povo, founded by Rev. Hugh Clarence Tucker together with the church) has the important role of serving Rio de Janeiro's underprivileged population.
