It's no wonder some people refer to a “Paissandu generation.” The movie theater in the Flamengo neighborhood shaped an entire tribe of film buffs, blowing many people's minds by screening films by Godard, Antonioni, Fellini, Visconti, and Brazilian directors linked to Cinema Novo.

Black-and-white facade of the "Studio Paissandu" cinema with a parking lot, trees, shops, and advertised films.Image description: The image is a black-and-white photograph of the facade of a movie theater called "Studio Paissandu." The spatial arrangement begins with the parking area on the left, where a car is parked. In the background, there is a tree and ornamental plants. On the right, there is a shop called "Lanches Saint-Tropez" and a pizzeria called "Pizzaria Galetto." At the top, there is a large panel advertising films with names such as "Opicologo," "Fred Astaire," "Ginger Rogers," "Livre," "3440," "620," "8940." The theater's facade is marked with the name "Studio Paissandu" in large letters.

But not just for that. Between one film and another, in the lobby, on the sidewalk, or in the nearby bars, the young regulars also debated culture, other arts, politics. Cine Paissandu ceased operations in 2008, and today, the building where it once stood houses a gym.
