Clube São Cristóvão de Futebol e Regatas emerged from the merger of two other clubs: Club de Regatas São Cristóvão, founded on October 12, 1898, and São Cristóvão Athletic Club, founded on July 15, 1909 and dedicated solely to football. The merger of the clubs took place on February 13, 1943, 17 years after São Cristóvão Athletic Club's most important achievement — winning the 1926 Campeonato Carioca da Primeira Divisão.
Therefore, at the time of the merger, São Cristóvão had already inherited from the old club the fame earned on the field.
Some students from the PAV111 and ADM201 classes went in search of this story, and it even earned a rhyme in tribute to the club, made by Kayque (2Bê) from the PAV111 class.
