Health and protection against diseases.Image description: The image is a colorful drawing depicting elements related to health and disease prevention. From left to right, we see a person sitting and holding a tablet, with a medical mask floating beside them. In the center, there is a thermometer and a plus sign, along with a smiling heart with raindrops falling on it. A blue cloud sits above the heart, and a sad face emoji is behind it. On the right, there is a bottle of hand sanitizer gel with a cross symbol and a water droplet. Above the bottle, there is a virus icon. The person on the right is wearing a horizontally striped shirt and appears to be looking at the viruses.

Rio de Janeiro, May 19, 2021.

Dear Santa,

I imagine you've already started sorting through the Christmas requests, so I'll leave mine here. I know that this year I haven't been a good girl, I don't feel like I'm making my mother proud, and I don't even talk to my father.

I no longer attend classes, I work all day to be able to contribute something at home, I'm exhausted and I don't feel like doing anything too grand. I plan everything I intend to do before closing my eyes, but when the day breaks, I feel like my strength doesn't wake up along with me.

I've been getting stressed much faster than usual, everything tires me out easily, and the only urge I have and actually give in to is staying in bed until my body gets sore. I cry alone and over nothing, I've fought with my friends and drifted away from them, I've been sabotaging myself frequently, and I can't, or simply don't want to, stop.

Nothing holds my attention for long anymore, even the subjects I know I like have already lost their charm. I've realized that in this pandemic time, whoever doesn't die from the virus will die of sadness.

I know I'm probably too old to ask for Christmas presents anymore, but I want to ask to stay here and see something good come out of all this.

Sincerely,

Caroline O.
