OvercomingandTransformation

Jéssica Francisco da Silva Araújo, Patrícia Rodrigues Gomes

Living in the middle of the war for years, seeking to learn Even in the favela, without fear of fighting

A new path, a way of living

Through education, through my dream of teaching

Walking through the streets of Complexo do Alemão Children heading down to study

I feel reality as I touch my feet to the ground Running to get to work Sometimes I'm late, but that's part of it A favela resident seeking new horizons

And thinking more about lines and less about tracers

The very act of not giving up already makes me art

On the crowded subway, every day we say "I'm going"

In Humaitá, a different world to conquer The difference is glaring, the distance intensifies the yearning

We left children at home, and in a mother's heart the feeling of pain

I seek learning and new experience

I get off work and go to Pró Saber

To leave the marks of my existence

A memorable experience of mine

I want a world of equality Where everyone has the same opportunities In the South Zone I see another reality

Perhaps because of its removed favelas

There, the same landscape may not exist For my knowledge, at Pró Saber, I found my place The wonder lies in the people ready to help The feeling in each shared experience Each class with 4-Ó, a treasure of words

Professor Melissa made me see My ancestry, my power to transform Education, and its purposes My family, inspired by me

I believe in the power of educating, Of planting knowledge, And watching it flourish

I want to be a teacher on my journey

Being able to transform a life, seeing a dream come to life

I want to change the world, lives, the way of loving Reduce the size of pain

I will stay firm in my purpose of teaching So that from Zona Sul to Alemão, the distance is only the ride on the subway I hope that one day, these barriers that separate us can be broken, and that both the community and the more privileged neighborhoods can share the same reality, of peace and prosperity
