Listen to an excerpt from the letter narrated by its writer, Gabriel.
Rio de Janeiro, May 20, 2021.
Dear friend,
I'm writing to say goodbye to you, before it's too late. During this difficult period we've been living through, you were one of the people I communicated with most, even though we were far apart.
I found myself sad at some moments, but thanks to your friendship those passed quickly. We haven't seen each other since March 2020, when classes were suspended due to the pandemic, but, even so, we haven't lost our connection as friends.
When I got the news that you were leaving CEFET, I became very thoughtful and worried... a fear that all that connection we have would be lost with time and the ever-increasing distance. I know that Caxias and Pilares aren't that far apart, but, in the moment we're living in, everything becomes difficult.
I was hoping to catch up with you when classes started again, but that won't be possible anymore. I still remember the first time we talked, the first person I struck up a conversation with in class, and it was friendship at first sight (haha). After that, we were never apart again. We were always together in the hallways. We have so many good memories and so many stories to tell.
I hope that when all this is over we can plan something to catch up. A friendship this good doesn't end because of that. I hope the new school is good and that you have great success. As soon as you can, come visit us at CEFET, to relive the old times.
Take care! I hope you are well and safe.
A kiss to the family and a big hug!
See you soon! When all this is over.
