The video produced by the students offers a fresh perspective on Portela, one of Rio de Janeiro's most traditional samba schools. Drawing on interviews conducted on the streets of Madureira — the birthplace of the samba school — the work highlights the community's memories, affections, and ties to the school. Residents, admirers, and people connected to Portela's history share their experiences, revealing how the school is a symbol of identity, resistance, and pride for the neighborhood. Through these voices, the video builds a vivid and sensitive narrative that shows Portela not only as a cultural powerhouse of carnival, but as an essential part of the daily life and history of Madureira.
