Jornal do Brasil radio jingle

The morning news, the afternoon paper, the weekly round-ups and the nostalgic songs of the small hours. Sent out from the announcer's voice, the hertz waves travel through space; the slogan “Partiu Tupi, corre pra sintonizar” teases the ear. The suspenseful tone in the deep voice takes on new life: Teatro de mistério, a retelling of the radio-drama suspense series that marked the 1950s through the 1970s, returns to the schedule of Rádio Nacional do Rio de Janeiro, once a week. Besides that, every day, the questioning tone tries to hook the listener: “But why is Aracaju called Aracaju? And Copacabana?”. In the studios, the content curators work panning for novelties, but also undertaking fleeting journeys through time.

At a trendy beachfront bar, a young woman asks the manager if she can change the soundtrack. She pulls out her phone, plugs it into the speaker and hits play on her music selection, from a song streaming service. On the living room sofa, an MPB artist picks up his guitar and repeats an age-old ritual: he casually strums a new song. But he records the scene on his own phone, and soon the song will travel across social media. A journey plotted not by the linearity of radio waves, but by an intricate combination of algorithms, popularity, chance. In the audience, phones capture the show's most fascinating moment — those two minutes in which a set of sounds finds the magic of the music that will reach the ears of those who didn't even know the band on stage.

Building with windows and air conditioning units, green tree on the left, Globo Radio system in front.Image description: The image is a photograph of a building with several windows and air conditioning units on its facades. The spatial arrangement begins on the left, where there is a green tree, moves to the center, where the main building stands, and ends on the right, where another building is partially visible. The main building has a white facade with many rectangular windows and air conditioning units installed in each one. At the bottom, there is a blue sign with the text "SISTEMA GLOBO DE RÁDIO". On the right, there is a beige-colored building with red stripes and square windows. The sky is blue with a few white clouds.

Meanwhile, at the bar, the matchbox accompanies the chorus reviving a song from the past, in an entirely analog ritual. Curations of the past intertwine with curations of the contemporary, weaving the range of sounds and music that, regardless of any debate about the recording industry or technology, soothes the ears of those who move through the city.
