Our story begins in the interior of Paraíba, more precisely in Aroeiras, on October 12, 1963, with the birth of a person who would come to be a symbol for the community of Vila Cruzeiro.
Her childhood in the countryside was quite lively, spent alongside her brother. Upon reaching the age when it's common to start working, she ended up becoming a preschool teacher and stayed in that profession for a good while.
But her life was about to change with a trip to Rio de Janeiro, which was made to meet a certain person who would later become her husband and the father of her daughters.
Upon arriving in Rio, she ended up working as a cleaning staff member and nanny. But as time went by, already tired of working for others, the idea of opening a local business came about, which at first wasn't very big and didn't bring in much either, sometimes earning just 10 or 15 reais a day, but it was her own special little corner.
As time went on, that small stand was growing bigger with each passing day and coming to stay open 24 hours a day.
With that, she and her business ended up becoming a symbol for the community of Vila Cruzeiro, coming to be called Barraca da Emília, which remains standing to this day.
